Stade Rennais hopes not to see two excellent series interrupted in quick succession. Until this Sunday, April 28, the Rouge et Noir had not lost to Stade Brestois since 2011, and since 1987 at Roazhon Park. Beaten 5-4 in the derby, Julien Stéphan’s men will try to maintain another excellent series, this Saturday May 4, this time against FC Metz.

22 years of invincibility at the Saint-Symphorien stadium

The Grenats are the Ligue 1 opponent against whom SRFC remains on the longest winning streak, with six consecutive successes since 2018. Rennes’ last defeat dates back to April 14, 2018, a 2-1 setback at Roazhon Park with a double by Nolan Roux for Metz. Above all, Benjamin Bourigeaud’s teammates have just inflicted four consecutive scores on Messins: 3-1 in Metz during the 2020-2021 season, 3-0 in Metz then 6-1 in Rennes (with a hat-trick from Serhou Guirassy) during the 2021-2022 season, and 5-1 in Rennes during the 1D day this season.

At the Saint-Symphorien stadium, the series is even more impressive since Rennes has been undefeated there since 2002 (a 3-1 defeat). Five wins and six draws followed.
