DIJON: Ninth edition of the La Chartreuse hospital center Olympics on May 16

In partnership with the UFR STAPS Dijon-Le Creusot, the health establishment organizes adapted physical activity events responding to the motto “To each their own Games”.

After the great success of the 8th edition, the CH La Chartreuse (CHLC) and the UFR STAPS Dijon – Le Creusot are pleased to present the 2024 Olympiads on the theme of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This sporting event, based on adapted physical activities, is aimed at patients suffering from mental disorders.

It will take place on Thursday May 16, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Parc du Center Hospitalier.

A partnership between CH La Chartreuse and UFR STAPS

The “Olympiads” are the result of a collaboration between the Intersectoral Center for Multiple Mediation Activities (CIAMM) of CH La Chartreuse and the Master 2 Adapted Physical Activities and Health (APAS) of the UFR STAPS Dijon – Le Creusot.

This day is dedicated to patients suffering from psychological and/or mental disorders followed at CH La Chartreuse and in other health establishments in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Around twenty teams are expected. The day will begin with a collective warm-up performed to music and created by dance teacher Aude Morandet.

The teams will then have to carry out different physical activity and discovery tests on the theme of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. A lunch break will be shared to bring everyone together before resuming the tests. This day will end with an awards ceremony.

Fight against preconceived ideas thanks to a unifying event!

The main objective of this event is to promote adapted physical activity and the values of sharing and exchange during a friendly day. The Olympiads will allow participants to build social bonds while bringing together the different specialized structures and establishments through a day of physical activity. Finally, this event will help take action against the stigmatization of mental illness.

Prescription: Adapted Physical Activity

Adapted Physical Activity (APA) is a means that allows people who, due to their physical, mental or social state, cannot practice physical activity under usual conditions to get moving.

The APA teacher designs specialized programs based on the patient’s expectations, needs and abilities, with the aim of improving their state of health, their quality of life and their autonomy. APAs are recognized as non-drug therapies and are part of the treatment pathway, upon medical prescription.

An athlete from Côte-d’or as godmother and the presence of a European wheelchair rugby champion!

This year, the Olympiads will have the privilege of having as godmother Camille MOUTARD, bronze medalist at the European Espoirs Championships in the 20 kilometer athletic walk.
