If Brest plays the Champions League, will its young people compete in the Youth League?

The Youth League, Champions League for young people (U19), could quickly become a subject at Stade Brestois. The 36 clubs qualified for the C1 will automatically qualify their U19 team, which is called the Champions League route. So, if Stade Brestois qualifies for the Champions League, its U19 team will automatically compete in the Youth League. Other clubs, the national champions, will be able to qualify, such as FC Nantes, semi-finalist of the 2023 edition. But on this point, the Brestois, sixth in Group C of U19 National, can no longer qualify.

A championship phase modeled on the Champions League

The championship phase will be modeled on the format of the championship phase of the Champions League version 2024-2025, but will be limited to the first six days (compared to eight for the “big ones”). Youth League matches are played “as a curtain raiser” to the professional match; the same day and at the same place as the Champions League match.

For example, if Stade Brestois faces Real Madrid in the championship phase on Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Madrid, the young people of SB29 will face those of Castilla on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Madrid. The matches are generally played in the training center of the host club, but for Stade Brestois, we can imagine that a big poster is played at the Francis-Le Blé stadium, as has already been the case for matches of Gambardella Cup.
