Closure of the Lambézellec CDAS, in Brest: Kevin Faure points out “the inconsistency of the Finistère right”

The Finistère departmental council is currently organizing the closure of the departmental social action center (CDAS) of Lambézellec, in Brest, which must be grouped with that of Saint-Marc. “While the renovation of this CDAS was unanimously agreed last year for €2.30 million, the departmental majority is, a year later, planning its closure and probably the sale of the building,” exclaims the socialist Kevin Faure in a press release.

A few days ago, as head of the socialist group on the departmental council, Kevin Faure questioned the president, Maël de Calan, in a letter about his intentions regarding the future of this local public service, used in particular by residents of neighboring priority neighborhoods. He also sent a copy of this letter to the prefect of Finistère, as well as to the twelve Finistère parliamentarians.

“Further decline in public services”

“The review of city contracts – “Neighborhood Commitments 2030” – has started. The first work carried out with residents and local stakeholders demonstrated the need for a stronger presence of public services in these neighborhoods. Despite this, police stations and post offices are moving away from the Lambézellec district in Brest. It is now the departmental council of Finistère which is organizing a further decline in public services in this sector,” points out the elected socialist.

“Last February, the municipal right of Brest publicly expressed its desire to keep public services accessible in all neighborhoods. What fly has stung this right which organizes the decline of a public service in Brest when it sits in the departmental assembly in Quimper, and which takes offense when it sits on the municipal council in Brest? I call on the responsibility and coherence of political actors in Finistère to guarantee the inhabitants of these neighborhoods support from institutions that meet their needs,” concludes Kevin Faure.
