NM1 (play-offs, round of 16 return). Kemper rams – Rueil AC, this Friday (8 p.m.)

Even if it is not a guarantee of skill, Paul Bouloukouet’s suspension shot remains a model of its kind, faithful to those presented by the most eminent educators. When it takes flight, it breaks it down mechanically, like in the books. His gestures are a reference. A treat for purists. “It’s special,” admits the player. I always try to have my elbow at 90° at shoulder height. It was Yann Jolivet, when I played at Andrézieux, who shaped my shooting. I was also inspired by certain NBA players. » Like Klay Thompson, the Warriors esthete.

“He put his head back together”

Today, the “free electron of Aries”, as Thibault Wolicki calls him, is still stubborn. Always striving for perfection. “For some time now, he has been arriving an hour before the others at training. He takes the shot machine and continues. He got into play-off mode,” rejoices the coach. And it pays off! Paul has found playing time again. Skill too! Its percentage in Rueil speaks for itself (57%). “He also put his head right, without neglecting collective principles,” says Wolicki, happy to have found the back-up of Benoit Injai.

“We were trained at the same Rouen school with Benoit,” explains Bouloukouet. We like each other a lot. He’s having a great season and honestly, I’m happy to see him progress at this level.” No question for him to take umbrage. He knew his role by signing for Quimper. “When I replace him, I know what I have to bring. Energy for example. My status as No. 2 does not disturb me in any way.”

If the man is not the type to doubt, he is nevertheless wary of Rueil during this return match. “It’s a lively and talented team. The match could be intense but we are all focused on the play-offs.”

With Paul Bouloukouet back in the race, the Béliers squad has never looked better this season. If the free election in Quimper settles the sights against Rueil, it could well send the Ile-de-France residents on vacation this Friday.
