As Jonathan, former gymnast and coach at Avant-garde de Caen, says: Garance is a gem of the club. This is his third qualification in the French championship. Beyond being a quality gymnast, she is also a key piece within the squad. She helps and corrects the younger ones a lot and she is really passionate about what she does. She really is the typical example of a club gymnast who has managed to spend her entire career in one club. »

Five workouts per week

Garance Vannier chose artistic gymnastics out of passion: “A passion cannot be chosen, she says with a big smile. I started in chick and I train five times a week. Among the four apparatuses, I prefer the floor and also the bars. When you’re small, you progress quickly, but then it’s more difficult to add new elements. We are especially progressing in confidence and resistance. I think that gymnastics, you like it or you don’t like it, there is no in-between, it’s truly a sport of passion. »

Continue as a team

Garance went through a sports-studies section at the local college and even skipped a class. Today, she is in her final year of science at the Victor-Hugo high school. The young gymnast wishes to pursue health studies: Next year, I am thinking of stopping individual competitions, because I will have less time and I am entering the 18-20 year old category which is much harder to qualify. I plan to continue as a team and I would like to coach younger people. »
