The life and fate of extinct animals can be discovered from May 3 to November 3, 2024 at the Parc de l’Estuaire in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne. This involves the REVIVRE exhibition,

Above all, it is a story that wants to be “poetic and ecological“. It was designed by the National Museum of Natural History of Paris and Saola Studio. It has been specially adapted for the Estuaire Park. A voice tells the story of these species and their interactions with humans. “This scenographic projection invites us to take another look at the fragility of ecosystems and the good practices from which we can draw inspiration,” explains the Department.
REVIVRE is presented in the exhibition space of the Villa de l’Estuaire, as part of the 50th anniversary of Échappées Nature.

This immersive experience “which brings extinct animal species back to life”, offers a journey through the key moments in the life of these species, such as the hatching of an Aepyornis egg, or the observation of a herd of Quagga.

A wall projection

It is a tailor-made installation, where animals modeled from specimens from the gallery of threatened and extinct species appear in wall projection (mapping) and come to life in front of visitors as the narrator evokes the story of their often unfortunate encounter with Man.

To do this, the SAOLA Studio and Parc de l’Estuaire teams have recreated a large mural where the species present in REVIVRE are drawn with a light line.
Each in turn, they will be illuminated by the projection. The drawing then merges with the video and gives the impression of waking up and moving in front of visitors as animals did centuries ago.
This new adaptation lasts approximately 10 minutes and is accessible in small groups, for all ages.
Other exhibitions presented at Parc de l’Estuaire Until November 3, “Chimères” Land art trail, lasting 10 minutes.
