The go ticket was validated last Friday (74-82), with a particular mention for the defensive quality and the great three-point number of Tanguy Touzé (32 pt, including ten winning shots).

There is therefore still half the way to go for the TMB, against Pont-de-Chéruy, before reaching the quarter-final of the N1 play-offs.

With this second round contested at the Monconseil hall this Friday, just like the possible beautiful one (scheduled for Sunday May 5 if necessary), the Tourangeaux have the cards in their hands. On condition of being as determined and diligent as in Isère.

“Impose the same defensive pressure”

“We trained well, with a lot of concentration, conviction and commitment from the playersunderlines in any case the Touraine coach, Cédric Heitz. It was a very decent week in terms of content and effort. We corrected things that weren’t done very well, particularly in attack with twenty turnovers, and we made a video to also see what we did well. »

On this subject, in Pont-de-Chéruy, the TMB had perfectly negotiated the meeting by impacting the formation of Dounia Issa from the start, with its defensive intensity and hardness, preventing the SOPCC from gaining confidence on its outside shots. An unfailing effort and determination from Abdel Sylla’s teammates which allowed them to take the lead quite quickly and keep it until the end.

“We will have to be able to impose this defensive pressure and it is always difficult to repeat good performances, explains the TMB coach. It’s up to us to have the right approach in terms of execution and the intensity to put into what we do. »

Isère shooters to watch closely

The slightest relaxation in the face of this athletic and dynamic team, which has surprised more than one “favorite” this season, could in fact complicate the task of the Tourangeaux. “They have a good defense and an offense that relies a lot on the three-point shot, with talented shootersrecalls Cédric Heitz on this subject. We have been warned. We managed things well in the first match, but without a doubt the players we didn’t see then will want to show themselves. We will have to be ready at all levels. »

And to add, emphasizing the conquering state of mind to maintain: “It’s the difficulty of playing the same opponent, who will react and want to take revenge. We will have to be strong, really follow the same approach as on the way out, and give everything. In the play-offs, the most important match is always the one that comes. This remains a big challenge. »

Pierre-Étienne Drouault back in training

There is therefore no question of letting down our guard on the TMB side, facing an Isère team which will perhaps play the last match in its history in N1 (the club has decided not to start again at this level, due to financial difficulties), but remains very competitive if we let her develop her game.

Note some good news in the ranks of Tours: the return to collective training of Pierre-Étienne Drouault who, after almost four months of stoppage and rehabilitation, could therefore soon be back on the competitive floor.

This Friday, May 3 at 8 p.m., Monconseil hall (possibly Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m.).
