Mayotte: cholera threatens
As of April 28, health authorities in Mayotte have confirmed 26 cases of cholera since mid-March. If the first patients were identified among people coming from the Comoros, three indigenous cases of cholera were confirmed on April 26. Remember that this acute form of diarrhea is transmitted by bacteria, generally via contaminated water or food. However, drinking water is a rare commodity in Mayotte, and the health system is very fragile.
