Sébastien Izquierdo, coach of Cadets A, gives a sporting assessment of our young Olympians with 3 matches remaining in the Play Off group stage. The 2023 French Gaudermen champion generation arrives with appetite at the end of the season.
Can you give us a little sporting update so far?
To date, we are first in our Play Off group with 12 points after the first leg. We are attacking the return phase with 2 consecutive trips to Toulon then to Aix, and we will end our campaign with the reception of the USAP at the beginning of June.
Only 3 matches left to finish this phase after 3 successes in 3 matches. What will it take to qualify for the rest?
To qualify, you have to finish 1st in our group or in the 2 best seconds (out of 6 groups), and given the results, it is better to count on us finishing 1st even if it will be extremely difficult.
How do you feel about the players as the end of the season approaches?
In this regard, the players are extremely determined to achieve the objectives that they have set for themselves, namely to qualify for the quarter-finals and remain undefeated at the Rey stadium.
What are the ambitions at the end of the financial year?
The level of these Play Offs is 2 tones above what we experienced compared to last year or even compared to the qualifying phase, but the group as a whole is of quality, healthy and worker. However, we will have to be more precise during these next 3 matches to hope to qualify.
