Born in Aulnay-sous-Bois in 1984, the collective with schoolboy humor, Los Craignos, multiplied their candidacies for elections until 1992. A book looks back on this adventure which could experience a new episode during the European election in June .

The newspaper Le Parisien evokes in a long article the memory of this gang which dynamited the electoral campaigns.

It all began in 1984, therefore, at the end of a European election marked by the breakthrough of the founder of the National Front (FN) Jean-Marie Le Pen. “A whole bunch of friends found it scandalous but they didn’t go to vote,” remembers Sylvain De Smet, 19 years old at the time. We then met in my apartment in Chanteloup with around ten friends and from there came an idea: what if we showed up as delirious as possible, like Coluche? »

We wanted to show that it is possible to present yourself. We started to spray paint pig heads, our emblem, and cannabis leaves. We were in favor of decriminalization but we did not have a formalized program. From the moment you have a program, you become a list like any other. »

One Sunday, three Craignos arrive at the Aulnay market. Sylvain De Smet is made up as Georges Marchais, a pig’s head hanging from a crate. “The local communists weren’t happy at all,” he still laughs today. The “fascists” also have little taste for this schoolboy humor: “When you are chased by FN activists, you learn to run fast. »
