Hail episodes hit several sectors, worrying farmers, particularly winegrowers. Calvados is under surveillance for floods and rain-flooding. The departments of Seine-Maritime, Eure, Eure-et-Loire and Orne are monitored for the rain-flood phenomenon until the middle of the night. Somme, Aisne, Oise, Val-d’Oise, Marne, Aube, Yonne, Paris, Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne, Seine-Saint- Denis, Seine-et-Marne, Essonne, and Yvelines are monitored for the risk of violent storms.
According to the meteorological institute, several storms of particular virulence are “likely to cause significant local damage“. Locally, hail and strong wind gusts that could exceed 80 km/h could occur in addition to thunderstorms.
A May 1st in the rain
For this first day of May, a large part of France was paralyzed by rainy weather. The rains fell from Provence to Languedoc. The Massif Central, the Center and as far as Normandy, almost no region fell between the drops. Generally speaking, the sky remained very cloudy, and only Brittany was able to benefit from variable skies. In the afternoon, the rains continued to sink into the interior of the country, particularly in Pays de la Loire, Poitou and the South-Eastern regions.
In terms of temperatures, the minimums oscillated between 8 and 12 degrees, and from 11 to 14 around the Mediterranean. The maximums were between 14 and 20 degrees from South-East to North. The Grand-Est region was able to benefit from higher temperatures in the middle of the day, with peaks of 26 or 27 degrees in Alsace.
