Sixteen firefighters and personnel from the technical or administrative services of Sdis 63 received medals, letters of congratulations or were promoted in their rank.

It was June 29, 2023, late in the afternoon. A broke out in an old building in downtown Billom. The narrowness of the streets and the configuration of the building, made up of stone and wooden floor, on three floors, made the intervention of the firefighters particularly delicate.
The latter, despite everything, managed to save a woman trapped on the third floor as well as another who had jumped from the second, seriously injuring herself. The fire was then quickly contained.

Last Tuesday, on the Sdis 63 site in Clermont-Ferrand, one of the actors in this rescue wore his fluorescent yellow helmet again, but for a completely different occasion. Chief sergeant Aurélien Bordet, from the Cournon rescue center, received a letter of congratulations from the prefect from Jérôme Malet, the prefect’s chief of staff, for the Billom operation.
The young man was not the only one to be honored during this presentation of distinctions in the Sdis logistics building. Sixteen men and women also received medals of honor or rank promotions. Among them, firefighters of course, but also members of the technical or administrative services of Sdis 63.

All recipients.
The opportunity, as pointed out by the controller general Christophe Glasian, director of Sdis 63, to recall that when firefighters provide rescue on the ground, “the support services are there for them”.
The speeches were brief but all were marked by great recognition for the work accomplished by the staff of Sdis 63. Jean-Paul Cuzin, president of the board of directors, spoke of the number of interventions carried out each year in Puy -de-Dôme: nearly 49,000. As well as certain deadlines, such as the logistics building site on the Crouël site. The goal being “to move towards a modern Sdis, which provides the means.”

The medals. Medal of honor for firefighters, gold level: chief sergeant Mickaël Pioche and senior lieutenant Jérôme Cohade. Regional, departmental, municipal medal of honor, silver level: Alain Bonfils, Sylvain Buchon, Francisco Caetano.
