Among the lot, the U-14 men’s team is probably the one that will stand out the most, within the Provincial Development (LDP). She started her campaign with a 2-1 victory at the home of AS Montis, thanks to goals from Maxime Landreville and Tristan Dumas.

“It’s a fairly balanced squad, but still with a big offensive strike force. It really is his trademark. If the other team scores three goals, we can respond with five,” indicated technical director Auxence Yerly, who also praised the work of midfielders Thomas Casgrain and Émile Chailler.

Still in LDP, he sees “a good group” in the U-15 men’s category, despite the defeats suffered against Gatineau then LaSalle. In both cases, the difference was made around the 75th minute.

“We will know pretty quickly if we can play the leading roles,” Yerly agreed.

“Same on the U-17 girls side. For the majority of them, it’s brand new to play at the AAA level. The idea remains to supervise them well, so that they can compete and develop.”

In the Quebec Elite Soccer League (LSEQ) now, the Granby club is represented in the U-21 men’s and, for the first time, U-21 women’s classes. It is undoubtedly wise to predict the proverbial “years of transition”, even if the author of these lines recognized the names of Yoan de la Chevrotière, Alexanne Paré and Ruby Lapointe.

Notice to football fans: most of the teams mentioned above will be in action on the synthetic pitch at Jean-Yves Phaneuf Park next weekend. The different schedules are available on the Spordle platform.

On another note, the Cosmos and their partners will soon offer a free conference by Patrice Bernier, former captain and emblematic player of the Impact. Bernier is expected on stage at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 13, but the doors to the Cégep de Granby auditorium will open at 6:30 p.m. A photo and autograph session is also scheduled.

Three local talents shone in Spain

Finally, note that three ex-Cosmos triumphed in a tournament played in Spain. We are talking here about Granbyens Maxime Lemieux and Gabriel Martel as well as Saint-Pien Mathieu Lachance.

The International Soccer Cup brought together 14 teams at the Mediterranean Village, located an hour and a half drive from Barcelona. During the men’s final, Celtix du Haut-Richelieu defeated the French Goal FC.

According to the echoes obtained by The Voice of the Eastcaptain Lachance and goalkeeper Lemieux notably stood out during several shootout sessions, while Martel did a good job in central defense.

These three local players normally play in the U-17 category of the Premiere youth soccer league of Quebec (PLSJQ), a caliber to which they would not have had access while remaining within the Cosmos fold.
