New pricing imposed on SUV owners comes into force this week in the capital. But who are the drivers and SUVs really affected by these new prices?

18 euros for one hour, 117 euros for four hours. This is what it will cost you, from tomorrow for parking your SUV and if you are “visiting” for example in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.
From Tuesday, new, rather dissuasive pricing applies to certain electric and thermal SUVs, these imposing cars which pollute more than others and which take up more space. This is the direct consequence of a vote organized by the Paris town hall last February. During this consultation which mobilized less than 6% of voters, 54.55% of voting residents voted in favor of these new prices.
The price of parking will triple, but not for all SUV owners, not for all vehicles and with price differentiation depending on the districts
First of all, all “visitors” are concerned, that is to say, as the Paris town hall specifies on its website, all those who “do not have specific parking rights: residential, professional, low-emission vehicle or Handi’Stat.”
But be careful! “When they park outside the mixed lanes of their 4 parking zones, beneficiaries of residential or sedentary professional parking rights are considered visitors. specifies the town hall. Beneficiaries of low-income residential rights will escape this new pricing (subject to proving their tax situation with a tax statement)
Concerning the type of SUV, this involves taxing more thermal and hybrid cars of more than 1 ton 6 and electric or low-emission vehicles of more than 2 tons (the mass is indicated on your registration certificate). The measure concerns around fifty car models.
Furthermore, owners of these SUVs will pay more or less depending on the districts visited. There are two zones and zone 1 is the most expensive.
- Zone 1: center, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th, Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excluding public holidays).
- Zone 2: 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excluding public holidays).
Please note that these new rates can be divided into 15-minute increments.
