Opponents of the development of traffic airport (Oise) have not said their last word. While the Bouygues-Egis consortium associated with the Serena investment fund has been appointed to manage the site for the next 30 years, local residents and associations will continue to push to try to bring down this extension project.

Last Monday, at the end of the day, around 200 people mobilized in front of the headquarters of the Beauvaisis Agglomeration to protest against the choice of elected officials to appoint Bouygues-Egis and to plan a increased number of movements of planes per year, to move to 45,000 annual passages in the next ten years, compared to 33,000 currently.

The “Sauvez le Beauvaisis” association declared that it was launching “a resistance movement” against the decision taken by the SMABT (Beauvais-Tillé Airport Mixed Union), owner of the airport site.

On Saturday, May 4, we will occupy Place Jeanne Hachette for our first static demonstration of a long movement that will take hold.

“What do you do about the of local residents, whose life expectancy will be lower? It’s a endangering the lives of others. Our children at school will breathe air polluted by fine particles », notably denounced Catherine Martin, the mayor of Tillé, the town which hosts the airport. She voted against the offer made by Bouygues-Egis. Eight other elected officials voted in favor.

With this project “there will be no improvement for local residents. On the other hand, there will be always more noise, always more planes and always more pollution,” revolted Dominique Lazarski on Monday, the president of ADERA, an association for the defense of local residents.
