François REBSAMEN, mayor of Dijon, president of Dijon Métropole, represented by Antoine HOAREAU, deputy mayor, vice-president of Dijon Métropole in charge of water and sanitation, president of the company Odivea, in the presence of Julien NIALON , general director of the Odivea company, and Olivier VALENTIN, head of the Sogedo Dijon agency, presented this Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the “Optim’eau” water-saving kit which will be distributed to residents of the Dijon metropolis from June 1, 2024.

Dijon Métropole, with its water and sanitation delegates Odivea, Suez and Sogedo, has decided to engage in a massive operation to distribute water-saving kits to metropolitan households to raise awareness of the preservation of water. drinking water resources and involve them in this process, for reasoned and reasonable use of water. This is the largest distribution operation of its kind on the scale of a territory which in this case represents 130,000 households.

The “Optim’eau” water saving kit offered, consisting of a foamer for the sink faucet, a foamer for the bathroom sink and a shower head also equipped with a flexible hose and an economical ring, will allow each household to reduce its flow and improve its daily water management, knowing that the rapid installation of this equipment can result in a reduction of 30 to 40% in consumption on the water points mentioned.

From this Tuesday, April 30, 2024, each household in the Dijon metropolis can register on the optimeau.dijon-metropole.fr platform to obtain an “Optim’eau” kit to be collected at one of the collection points offered. From June 1, 2024, 34 collection points will be set up in the 23 municipalities of the Dijon metropolis. Each household will be informed by mail of this “Optim’eau” operation and its terms. Requesting an “Optim’eau” kit means committing to eco-friendly actions for controlled and more economical management of water resources.

At the same time, Dijon Métropole is continuing its investments to preserve this resource in the face of climate change and increasingly difficult periods of drought. Since 2005, the community has undertaken work to improve the drinking water network (renewal of pipes such as recently at the Morcueil Source and at Poncey-lès-Athée) or even move towards more efficient control of consumption (installation of remote readable water meters).

For example, the efficiency rate of Dijon’s drinking water network has now increased to 86% and the objective is set at 91% by 2030. In addition, on the scale of Dijon metropolitan area, while the population served increased by 25,000 inhabitants between 2005 and 2021, the volume of water withdrawn per year from the natural environment for drinking water supply decreased by 20%.
