Shortly after 8 p.m. this Tuesday, a parked car caught fire on rue Sainte-Catherine, in front of the restaurant La Maison dans le Parc, a stone’s throw from Place Stanislas. Then, the flames spread to other vehicles parked nearby.

Alerted, the firefighters quickly arrived on site and brought the impressive fire under control, under the eyes of many incredulous passers-by. Results: two cars completely burned and three others damaged.

The origin of the fire remains to be determined

Behind the ribbon placed by the emergency services, a little boy burst into tears. One of the cars that went up in smoke belonged to his mother. “The main thing is that we’re okay,” the mother tries to reassure. “It’s material, it’s nothing.”

The police are also on site. The investigation must determine whether the fire is accidental or criminal… Because around the car wrecks, a doubt remained this Tuesday evening.

But a clear answer came this Wednesday morning. Via a press release, the prefecture states “that it was a car which caught fire accidentally. No physical casualties have been reported. »
