Lachute, April 9, 2024 – The MRC d’Argenteuil and the Sûreté du Québec are proud to announce that a total of 108 donors showed up for the tenth edition of their annual blood drive, on April 2, at the Reception space at the Lavigne high school and the Laurentian regional high school. After transformation and separation of blood components in the laboratory (platelets, red blood cells, plasma, etc.), nearly 350 products will be able to be transfused to patients in public hospitals in Quebec, and therefore as many lives will be able to be saved.
The prefect of the MRC of Argenteuil, Mr. Scott Pearce, is delighted with the result: “The participation of Argenteuil residents in this collection is exemplary every year, and we are extremely proud of it. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many donors and volunteers for their altruistic gesture, as well as the Héma-Québec staff for their essential work.”
The success of this blood drive also relies on the significant contribution of the École Polyvalente Lavigne and the Laurentian Regional High School, the Sûreté du Québec police force as well as members of the staff of the MRC d’Argenteuil.
To ensure good management of traffic, donors were encouraged to make an appointment with Héma-Québec.
The organizing committee says it is ready to roll up its sleeves again next year for an eleventh edition!
The importance of donating blood
Every 80 seconds, someone needs blood in Quebec. The collective blood reserve belongs to everyone. No matter where blood is collected, it is processed and tested, then delivered to where the need is and where it is needed to help save lives. Every day, Héma-Québec must collect at least 1,000 blood donations in order to meet all the demands of Quebec hospitals.
