Whether it rains, snows or winds, the flea market and garage sales in Saint-Étienne-Lardeyrol will not be lacking on May 1st. And this for over 30 years!

Saint-Étienne-Lardeyrol kicks off the garage sale season in Haute-. The event is also listed in flea markets, as long as it welcomes a certain number of professionals. “Less and less, however,” says Monique Arnaud, president of the commune’s Festival Committee, which is in charge of organizing the day. And the task is not easy, given the influx of exhibitors, in principle between 6 and 8 hours. Often the first arrive well before dawn.
The committee recommends booking early enough
, but it is still possible to register on site, the same day. This year, the does not look very good, so much so that many will prefer to wait until the last moment to decide whether to participate. This garage sale is by far one of the largest in Haute-Loire. It broke a record last year with 500 places reserved – which does not correspond to the number of exhibitors, since some occupy several places.
Still, the demonstration is impressive. The entire town center is taken up by the stands. The organization represents the mobilization of more than 70 volunteers: representatives of the festival committee and well beyond. Visitors will find two refreshments on site, one run by the committee, the other by the bowlers this year (the running of this second refreshment rotates for each edition). It is also possible to eat.

The organizers have planned cold meals (priced at 12 euros) to take away or eat on site. The town and Combriol associations are also renewing the sale of bread baked in a wood oven. This sale is always very successful. The “apprentice” bakers will be hard at work the day before to be able to meet demand!
