The traders of the Gueule-Tapée market gathered this Monday, April 29, 2024 around a press point to denounce the problems of the market.

Thus, they announce that a complaint has been filed with the prosecutor.

Designated as spokesperson for the day, trader Alioune Badara Samb said that the market delegate and the promoter are at the origin of their damage.

He accuses the market delegate Mbaye Ndiaye of being behind this dirty trick, in collusion with the town hall.

“They did not respect their promises. They promised to build the market over a period of 9 months, but for 5 years, the market has not yet been delivered. Which is unacceptable! We are tired of this situation. When they presented the project to us, they declared that only part of the market will be renovated with the demolition of 142 canteens.”

He continues: “Some time later, the developer, in complicity with the delegate and the mayor of the commune Ousmane Ndoye, ended up changing the specifications.”

Faced with this situation, traders are calling on the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the Minister of Local Authorities to provide a lasting solution to this problem. “The authorities must take over management. The delegate betrayed us and sided with Mayor Ousmane Ndoye as well as with the developer,” said Mr. Samb.

Furthermore, they announce that a complaint has been filed with the Prosecutor against Mayor Ousmane Ndoye and the developer. “They destroyed all our luggage by destroying the canteens. A bailiff was seized and the lawyer filed a complaint with the Prosecutor,” they say.

However, Alioune Badara Samb informs that the traders of the Gueule Tapée market intend to hire a pool of lawyers so that the case can be brought before the courts and tribunals…
