Hello and welcome to Suisse Good!
Do you know the “village” of Aigues-Vertes? Located in the Geneva countryside, it welcomes people living with intellectual disabilities to offer them the most independent setting possible. They live there, work there and sometimes fall in love there, as told in a series of reports from new.
A fund for scientific photography
A photograph mixing visible and invisible thanks to infrared, a video showing the vascularization of the brain or even a close-up of molecules which resemble Minions: these are some of the images rewarded by a competition launched by the Swiss National Fund for highlight scientific photography.

Help with writing your memoirs
Are you or a loved one considering writing a memoir? A Vaudois platform offers to support you in this work. From writing to printing, including advice and corrections, it is as much a technological tool as it is a human exchange.
A waste-eating boat
It’s called Mobula 8.2, a surname borrowed from the ray of the same name. And like this fish, it filters the water. Except that this boat, presented last week by the Geneva association which developed it, does not do it to feed itself, but to suck up the waste that floats on the water. Next stop on his trip: Malaysia, to get to work.

Participatory gardens on the hill
This is the story of a family from Gimel (VD) who wanted to develop their agricultural land. Tomato and Meat – their nicknames – joined by Courgette and Bean – nicknames, again – have therefore decided to transform 1000 square meters of land on a hill into participatory gardens, rentable all year round for modest sums. And add a few bonuses, from an edible hedge to three ponds.
Designer worm composters
You want to start vermicomposting, but you find it ugly to have a plastic bucket or a garden box in your house. That’s good, a French company has developed more aesthetic worm composters, made of terracotta and made by hand, somewhere between the Daleks of Dr Who and primitive statues.
A Gaston Lagaffe from Vaud
You may have seen this news: a Vaudois inventor has recreated Gaston Lagaffe’s dream, a lawn mower that saves flowers. This is not the ingenious mechanic’s first attempt. From a ladder bike to a sleeping car, whether he is inspired by Gaston or not, David Foutimasseur makes objects with delightful mechanical poetry.
And otherwise, a few months ago, I told you about a Vaud initiative for washable and reusable bottles in the wine world. Good news: tests are progressing and a first model should arrive on the market in 2025.
Happy listening, have a great week and see you next Monday!
