The accounts of the State of Neuchâtel closed with a profit of nearly 1.7 million francs, while the budget forecast a deficit of 13.6 million. The canton is in the black for the fourth consecutive year.
The President of the Council of State Alain Ribaux and his colleague Crystel Graf, in charge of finances, presented the accounts on Monday. These show a profit, without deduction from the cyclical reserve or smoothing of tax revenues, despite several deteriorations which affected the result.
In particular the absence of payment of the share for the benefit of the Swiss National Bank (SNB), with a negative impact of 27.3 million, or the additional credit of 34.5 million granted during the financial year to financially consolidate the health institutions and to offset the increase in salaries.
In addition, the result includes the impacts related to the Ukrainian and energy crisis, the impact of which is estimated at 7.6 million.
