The 16th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM) attracted more than a million visitors, said Kamal Hidane, Acting Commissioner of SIAM, on Sunday in Meknes.
“This show has attracted more than a million visitors until today at noon, thus confirming its role as an essential platform for Agriculture on an international and continental scale,” said Mr. Hidane in a statement to the press, at the closing of SIAM.
Organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this show was an exceptional event, illustrating the excellence and dynamics of the Moroccan agricultural sector, he said.
The 16th SIAM, held under the theme “Climate and agriculture: For sustainable and resilient production systems”, saw the participation of 1,500 exhibitors from 70 countries, 45 foreign delegations, including 22 ministers, as well as international organizations such as the African Union, the European Union and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), said Mr. Hidane.
“I am particularly proud to highlight the launch of our new “Agri-digital” center this year, which has been added to eleven existing centers, marking a significant step towards the modernization and digitalization of our agriculture,” he said. he says.
Established on an area of 12.4 hectares (Ha), including 11 Ha covered, SIAM has seen the participation of more than 500 cooperatives and more than 200 breeders, which testifies to the richness and diversity of the The offer presented, Mr. Hidane said.
“The local products division particularly stood out. Spanning 16,000 m2 and housing more than 500 stands, this hub shed light on producer groups, including those in areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake,” he maintained. In terms of knowledge and innovation, SIAM has seen the organization of around forty conferences with enriching discussions on major subjects such as climate change, the digitalization of agriculture, the importance of agricultural research for sustainability, etc.
