In order to give a boost to its apprentice motoriststhe commune of Parmain (Val d’Oise) launches its first driving license scholarship.

License assistance

Obtaining a driver’s license is often the first step towards independence.

For many young candidates, the little pink card is also synonymous with a heavy, or even unattainable, budget. In fact, it costs €1,900 on average, in mainland , for training including the code and around twenty hours of driving.

To find a job, young people will need to travel.

Loïc Taillanter, mayor (Se) of Parmain

Designed by the ’s Municipal Social Action Center (Ccas), this system is aimed at young people aged 18 to 25. The Parminois municipality finances 50% of driving license training.

“This scholarship is a very good idea for our young people and their professional integration, because, to find a job, they will need to travel,” explains Loïc Taillanter, the mayor (Se) of Parmain. Every year, we implement actions for our seniors and we wanted to do the same thing for our young people. We may even pay a little more if there are additional driving hours. »

Four scholarships

In return for this assistance, the candidate undertakes to complete 35 hours of volunteer work in a municipal service before obtaining their license.

“This could be help for the elderly, green spaces or small painting jobs,” the councilor specifies. It is the young person who will propose the activity that he undertakes to carry out to help the community. »
