Direction the 15th districtthe favorite neighborhood of Korean restaurants from Paris, to discover the brand new Hwaro Grillthis restaurant which, in addition to being very beautiful, is also a great plan to wake up your sleeping taste buds.
In winter to keep warm or in summer, during the grilling season, the korean barbecue, It’s a good idea. Is the 58 rue de la Croix Nivertbetween the Champs de Mars and Beaugrenelle, that we train our feet to discover Hwaro Grill, this authentic Korean restaurant run by Koreans. At the helm of this restaurant is Madame IM, already at the helm of 7 other successful restaurants including Bokko and Songsan.
Upon arrival, a warm and modern decoration is revealed. Wooden tables, spaced apart, each with a built-in barbecue and a hood, which extend a large bar in length.
At the entrance, we discover a small grocery store (which turns out to be gifts for children), a beautiful manga library available for young and old alike and a reading corner with wall-mounted TV for watching music videos. K pop.
We find on the menu, different menus, ranging from €18 to €24 for lunch (ideal if you are a fan of bibimbap or bentos), to €28 in the evening for starter + main course + dessert. On the menu, a whole range of well-known and lesser-known specialties are available to us (fortunately, the photos of the dishes are there to help us). Bulgoris, Bibimbaps, Deobaps, stews, soups and noodles are offered in different versions.
As a starter, let yourself be tempted by the Fried ravioli generous, the excellent tteobokki which we highly recommend (be careful, it’s very spicy, but really very good and very spicy). Favorite also for the Korean pancake with vegetables which is truly an unexpected revelation. Crispy, soft and tasty, we love it.
At the house of Hwaro Grill, the star is really the grills. Also, we leave with my family table, on 3 choices of meats to grill: the marinated chicken with soy sauce, marinated pork ribs with soy sauce and marinated beef ribs with soy sauce. Don’t be surprised, the meats arrive already pre-cooked, that’s normal, for even more taste, they are seared on the barbecue charcoal before finishing cooking them on your own grill. Which, we admit, makes all the difference. The meats are moist and tasty.
All the meats are served with rice and a range of accompaniments that allow you to taste everything: salad, marinated potatoes, lotus, vegetable noodles, kimchi, nori sheets, we don’t know where to start. A little peanut sauce as a bonus and we are in barbecue paradise.
Curious, we also tested the excellent bibimbap as well as the Kimchi Stew with Pork Chops. Cooked on the grill, this dish for two is very delicious and spicy. The chops are tender, the noodles and cabbage melt in the mouth. We are comfortable and we are very warm!
We finish the meal with a Bibimsomyeon, a tangy fresh noodle salad which, we are told, ends meals in Korea. Enough to cleanse the palate and roll under the table.
Finally, a little note of sweetness to finish. If the most reasonable have opted for mochi (iced or not) accompanied by a ginger and lemon infusion, the most gourmands (the children) were tempted by the excellent chocolate tiramisu garnished with a delicious mochi.
In short, if you are looking for a good and authentic Korean restaurant in Pariswhich also reveals a pretty welcoming room, head to Hwaro Grill.
