This was the challenge taken up by Julian and Kilian, two 19-year-olds in apprenticeship at the CFA BTP in Méjannes-lès-Alès. This week, the three members of the jury came to examine the works required by the competition (in the plumbing and heating categories). Measuring the spacing, quality of the welds, alignment, compliance with the specifications, everything was evaluated with great rigor.

Two hours after the start of the exam, the results are announced. Julian and Kilian each won two gold medals, one departmental and one regional. Medals which give them the opportunity to now compete in the national round of the competition by having to produce a free work on the theme of the 2024 Games within a month.

“They have that little extra”

“Giving the technical and financial means to young people who have the desire, it’s not a burden for a company, it’s a duty. It’s an opportunity and above all it’s great! Julian and Kilian are like all their colleagues and friends, but they have that “little extra” that pushes them to seek excellence in their learning!”comments their business manager Pierre Lefebvre, who has always invested in the transmission of know-how.

For Olivier Polge, secretary general of the French Building Federation of , “we also denigrate those who think that this generation does not necessarily want to. Well no, there are young people throughout France who are in training, on work-study courses to learn their profession in our CFA. will not be candidates for the MAF but it is essential that there are some to challenge and confront each other. Tomorrow, they will be valuable companions in our companies and certainly future excellent craftsmen and entrepreneurs.

For several days, the members of the jury have already evaluated the electricians and next week, the apprentice masons will in turn see their past achievements under the demanding gaze of the jury.
