New homicide in (Bouches-du-Rhône). A 19-year-old man, unknown to the police, was killed in the Belle-de-Mai district in the evening this Saturday, Le Parisien learned from a police Source, confirming information from La Provence.

The victim, who was on rue François Barbini, located in the 3rd arrondissement of the Marseille city, presented a gunshot wound to the head when help arrived. Despite attempts at resuscitation, doctors pronounced him dead around 9:55 p.m., again according to a police Source. Five 7.65 mm caliber cases were seized on site. Witnesses said they saw a blue Renault Mégane fleeing after the shooting. The vehicle was found burned in La Barben (ZGN). The perpetrators then fled in another vehicle which was found with its engine still hot behind the police station.

The Belle-de-Mai district is regularly at the heart of drug trafficking. On April 8, police officers from the city’s anti-narcotics office arrested eleven targets and dismantled an entire network established in the neighborhood.

According to the prosecution, all those arrested were indicted. Eight of them were placed in pre-trial detention. The dismantling of the Belle de Mai network “should put an end to the bloody spiral of vendetta in which these two teams were engaged,” hoped a Source close to the matter. This new drama comes while the “XXL net square” operation is still underway in the Marseille city.
