The penultimate day of Ligue 1 could have sealed the fate of FC Lorient (Morbihan). The Morbihannais are not yet in Ligue 2 for the 2024/2025 season. But it would take a miracle on the last day against Clermont on Sunday May 19, 2024 to maintain.

Lorient loses at half-time

Sunday May 12, 2024, Lorient traveled to Marseille for the 33rd day of Ligue 1.

In the first half, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opens the scoring (36′) for the Phocaeans. Samuel Gigot doubled the lead in the 41st minute. The former Marseillais Benjamin Mendy takes advantage of an error by the locals to reduce the mark.

Second half on the same tone

Marseille hit the nail on the head in the 54th minute with a penalty from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The score will not change (3-1).

For his part, the roadblocker Metz won at Strasbourg until the 89th minute. But Strasbourg reverses the match at the end of the match (2-1).

The Morbihannais are not not yet relegated to Ligue 2 but the 3 points difference with Metz and the goal difference (-7 goals) offer slim hopes to the Merlus.
