SX US 450: Jett Lawrence continues and widens the gap!

A week regaining the leader’s red plate alone by winning in Nashville, Jett Lawrence had the ambition to drive the point home in order to approach the last two rounds of Denver and Salt Lake with a margin greater than five small points. The scenario went in this direction since the HRC official won his seventh final of the year in Philadelphia ahead of Sexton and Anderson.

Before returning in more detail to the Philadelphia final, let’s take a quick look and start with the results of the two qualifying series. In the first, Tomac won ahead of his teammate Webb and Justin Barcia. Note that Jett Lawrence returned from 18e in fourth place after a slide at the first corner. In the second, great victory for Jason Anderson who beat Hunter Lawrence and an excellent Dylan Ferrandis who returned to the track this weekend. Nichols finished fourth with the Beta and Sexton only sixth after being involved in a collision early in the race. Also note the qualification for the final of Anthony Bourdon present this evening with his 450 RM-Z from the BarX team.

Final: seventh victory for Jettson!

After his little mishap in the series and his fall at the first corner, Jett Lawrence did not make the same mistake twice. Author of an unstoppable holeshot, the HRC official will lead from start to finish without ever being worried. Behind him at the start of the race, we find Eli Tomac, Cooper Webb, Jason Anderson and Chase Sexton finally well recovered from his crash last week. While the championship leader switches on the cruise control mode, things are moving behind him. Webb overtakes Tomac who is then caught by the #1 KTM of Sexton. For his return to SX, Dylan Ferrandis is in eighth position. The last minutes are interesting with a great fight between Barcia and Hunter Lawrence for sixth place. Despite his very good start, Tomac slowed down and was caught by Anderson. The official Kawasaki Monster was found, attacked like crazy and even took advantage of the last lap to overtake Webb in the last corner. The two men touch each other, the driver Yam finds himself on the ground losing the podium and a few additional points on his rival Lawrence. Jett therefore masterfully won five seconds ahead of Sexton while Anderson rediscovered the joy of a podium for the first time since Glendale. For his part, Dylan Ferrandis finished ninth. With two races remaining, Jettson now leads the championship with a twelve-point lead over Webb. Great operation for Sexton who comes back to two small units from Tomac to play for the final podium.

Man of the day: Jett Lawrence

After three more difficult races in Seattle (P3), Saint-Louis (P8) and Foxborough (P5), Jett Lawrence is once again in very good momentum. Like last week, he established himself as a boss and took the lead in the championship. By scoring twelve points more than Webb in two finals, the Honda official has given himself some fresh air. To imitate McGrath and Dungey by becoming champion among the big guns at the end of his rookie season, he only has two finals left to negotiate well.

Disappointment of the day: Cooper Webb

In the heat at the start of the final, the Racing Monster Energy Yamaha rider lost his pace as the laps went by. Overwhelmed by Sexton then Anderson at the very last moment, he missed the podium and dropped new very important points. His face marked on arrival, we even felt a little resigned even if his speech remained positive. He only has two finals left to reverse the trend, not easy!

The reactions

Jett Lawrence (P1):Here, on a track like this, you had to start from the front, it was essential. This is what I managed to do and I admit that it helped me a lot. Now there are two races left and we obviously have to stay focused until the end! »

Chase Sexton (P2):I managed some fast laps, some nice overtakes, I’m quite happy with this final. We worked well with the team during the week and I felt good on the bike. The goal now is to continue like this and arrive in great shape outdoors. »

Jason Anderson (P3): “ This podium feels good. We are working hard with the Kawasaki Monster team, the bike is improving, I am very happy with my day, it feels good to win a series and then finish on the podium with a great end to the race. Plus my whole family was in the stadium tonight, it’s cool. »

Cooper Webb (P4):The race was hard for me, it was slippery, I felt tired this evening, I rode badly. There are two finals left, I lost points, we will have to refocus and get back to work. Everything is still possible until the end. »
