The mayor of Sept-Îles, Denis Miousse contacted the Sûreté du Québec this Friday in connection with the unprecedented increase in episodes of armed violence which have been reported in recent weeks in Sept-Îles.
In a press release, Mr. Miousse said he was exasperated by the latest events that occurred on municipal territory.
Mayor Miousse met Friday morning with those responsible for the Sept-Îles station. He was accompanied by the municipal councilor who is also president of the Public Security committee, Guylaine Lejeune.
“We asked that additional police personnel be assigned here in order to restore order and a safe climate, as quickly as possible,” comments Denis Miousse.
Situation taken seriously
According to the mayor, the Sûreté du Québec was sensitive to the concerns raised. He says he is ready to meet with the SQ again if the situation does not change.

Earlier this week, a residence occupied by two seniors was mistakenly targeted by gunfire. The SQ spokesperson then indicated that reinforcements from Abitibi were coming to lend a hand in the investigation.
This event is not isolated since the North Shore has been the scene of multiple settling of scores of this kind for several months now.
As is also happening in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec and Beauce, several criminal groups are waging a war for the control of drugs, which leads to armed attacks that directly affect the population.
