The Sûreté du Québec is investigating the suspicious death of a 78-year-old woman in a residence in Montmagny, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, Thursday morning.
A 33-year-old man, who turned himself in to the police, was arrested in connection with the death of the woman, whose body was found in the residence on Collin Avenue. The thirty-year-old was to be met by investigators at the end of the day.

According to information collected by The newspaperthe victim would be a lady with no well-known history in Montmagny, who lived alone with her dog.
“It’s a tragedy. I don’t understand what happened. She was so nice, it’s really sad,” said a neighbor with his eyes in the water.

Forensic identification technicians were also deployed to the scene to assess the scene.
For the moment, the case is being treated as a suspicious death by the SQ, which has not given details regarding the call made to the emergency services or details as to whether there was any link between the victim and the arrested man.

Concerned residents
Several residents of the area we met, however, admitted that they were starting to be fearful in relation to the recent events that occurred in Montmagny.
“We usually hear about this on the news and now it’s happening in my street so I’m definitely worried. I have lived here for several years and I find that it is starting to become really dangerous,” says a lady who also lives on Collin Avenue, where the body was found.
A little over two months ago, a man suffered injuries following an armed attack that occurred in a residence on avenue Bossé, in Montmagny. The latter was taken to hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
