the essential
This Saturday, May 18, during the Lunac celebrations, the soap box championship is launched for the summer season. Five meetings are on the program in Haut Villefranche.

Under the leadership of Pierre Saurel and a handful of other mechanical enthusiasts, the soapbox championship delighted the region’s inhabitants last summer. The cars are making their comeback this Saturday, May 18, during the Lunac celebrations. A first meeting to launch the village festival season.
Five meetings
For soap boxes, these measure a maximum of 3 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. Five races are on the program. After Lunac, the participants will meet again two months later, on July 20 at La Bastide l’Évêque. Then on August 2 in Morlhon-le-Haut, August 10 in Saint-Salvadou and to conclude the championship, August 16 during the Mazières celebrations in Lunac.

Time and aesthetic competition

Each round will include three descents for each crate entered. Competitors will be ranked according to their time but there will also be a public vote for the best decorated box and the best disguised drivers. Each box will have to make the descent by avoiding obstacles, jumping springboards and crossing foam baths. Enough to have a good time for the spectators. There were many of them last year on the roadsides.
