Already presented in the past and refused in 2022, the “Plaine de Balusson” wind farm project in southern Deux-Sèvres has this time been, in part, authorized. Four of the six wind turbines envisaged received authorization by prefectural decree in April 2024. They must be installed in the municipalities of Sainte-Eanne (two), Salles (one) and Soudan (one), in the south Two -Sèvres.

All three municipal councils voted against. An association created in opposition to these projects (Stresss) had gathered 762 signatures locally. Furthermore, 269 opinions were collected during the public inquiry, almost all against (except two).

“Saturation effect”

The investigating commissioner himself, considering all aspects of the case, had issued an unfavorable opinion, highlighting “a real outcry” locally against this project. He particularly emphasized “a saturation effect”while the Deux-Sèvres department is the one which already hosts the largest number of masts in the entire region.

Locally, within a 10 km radius, the prefecture counts 33 wind turbines, some in service (23) and others authorized but not yet built (10). A density that she describes as ” average “. It nevertheless decided not to authorize the entire park for “limit the visual impact”taking into account their height, culminating at 200 m.
