In recent weeks, several cases of avian flu have been detected in seabirds in and . Farms in Brittany have also been affectedcontaminated by these seabirds. To prevent the virus from spreading in the farms of Vendée, the prefecture has just taken several measures which apply from this Wednesday, September 18.

In the case of flocks of 50 or more birds, they must remain sheltered in buildings. Water and food must also be protected. When there are less than 50 poultry, they must remain in an enclosed area and protected by nets.

Around a hundred municipalities concerned

Poultry gatherings are prohibited, except under certain conditions. Establishments that hold poultry, other than approved slaughterhouses, must also take special measures: vehicles entering and leaving must be disinfected and access by external stakeholders is limited.

Around a hundred municipalities are affected by these measures: those which are located along the coast and nearby.
