Until September 24, the Maison de la Charente-Maritime in , in partnership with the Réseau des Grands Sites de , is presenting a photography exhibition in the form of a quiz inviting the general public to discover these exceptional sites.

The aim is to raise public awareness of the sustainable development issues of Major Sites and their daily commitments.

Through these photos, the public is invited to discover or rediscover these emblematic landscapes of France but also to take an interest in those who live there, who preserve them or who visit them.

The Charente Estuary and Arsenal became the 21e Great Site of France

The Charente Estuary and the Rochefort Arsenal were officially awarded the Grand Site de France label in July 2020 for a period of 6 years. The Charente is considered one of the best-protected estuaries in Western Europe. Its unique landscape of land, water and silt is marked by the achievements of the Rochefort Arsenal.

Created in 2000, the Network now has 53 member Grand Sites, which welcome more than 38 million visitors. It brings together sites that have received the Grand Site de France label and others engaged in sustainable development initiatives to obtain it.
