Thunderstorms are expected in Corsica this Tuesday evening and during the day on Wednesday, September 18. Be vigilant, especially when traveling outdoors.

Initially classified as yellow, the weather alert level for Haute-Corse has finally been raised by one notch by Météo , moving to orange for the “rain-flood” and “storm” parameters from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17.

The system is expected to be maintained until 9 p.m. the following day, before returning to yellow for the two weather phenomena.

Please note that South Corsica is also affected by a yellow alert for “rain-flooding” (from 6 p.m. this Tuesday) and “storms” (from 10 a.m.). The alert is maintained until Wednesday, midnight, at the earliest.

In Haute-Corse, thunderstorms are possible all night from Tuesday to Wednesday, announces Météo France. A maximum cumulative rainfall of 60 millimeters is expected on Castagniccia.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, it is in Cortenais, on the outskirts of the department and in Castagniccia that the showers are the most numerous, and can take on a stormy character during the morning. At night, locally stormy showers occur, before becoming rarer. The maximum rainfall expected is around 60 millimetres in the region.

In South Corsica, showers are possible in the evening in the region, on the relief as well as in the Porto Vecchio region.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, a deterioration occurs quickly, bringing clouds and giving showers which sometimes take on a stormy character at the beginning of the afternoon, on the Deux-Sevi, on the Sartenais, on the relief, on the Alta Rocca as well as on the Porto Vecchio region. We must wait until the end of the day to find dry weather, and wider clearings.

In the early evening, the weather is stormy on the relief, on the Alta Rocca as well as towards the eastern part of the department, but showers are possible everywhere. The risk of thunderstorms disappears around midnight, and the precipitation then fades, indicates Météo France.
