This year, the Farm Cheese Fair-Competition has decided to set up shop in Emblavez.

The 32nd edition, Sunday April 21, as well as the next two, will take place in Rosières. “It highlights different places in the department, because every three years, we are welcomed by a new municipality for three consecutive years. So, we went to Blanzac, Craponne-sur-Arzon, Langeac, Le Mazet-Saint-Voy, Lavoûte-Chilhac…” explain the organizers of GD Civam 43.

Support for local know-how

The primary aim of the event is to support Haute- producers through direct sales which put them in contact with the public and professionals.

“Like every year, we will welcome new producers, as well as some local artisans. They all showcase their know-how, sometimes demonstrating it in front of the public. A wide range of cheeses and other dairy products will be presented to loyal customers. There will be something for everyone with sixteen farm producers. »

Among the participants, the GAEC des Orpins, in -sur-Arzon

This will be the case of the GAEC des Orpins, in Beaune-sur-Arzon, where the official presentation of the 2024 Competition Fair was made.

The farm was created by Sébastien and Magali Maitre on an area of 150 hectares of meadows, pastures and cereal and lentil crops. It is home to a herd of predominantly purebred cows and around twenty goats, mainly raised on hay and grass.

Here, in particular, “Belhna”, a cheese developed in 2020, matured for six to eight months, as well as lactic acids and butter, is made. The two farmers opened a direct sales store, installed a maturing cellar and even offer pancakes as well as baking and pastry flours.

Magali Maitre has followed training to offer this diversification to her customers. Since then, they have been present in the markets of Craponne-sur-Arzon and Saint-Bonnet-le-Château (Loire), as well as in the producers’ store in Ambert (Puy-de-Dôme).

32nd Farm Cheese Fair-Competition, Sunday April 21, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the town center of Rosières. Free admission. Meals in local restaurants, producers’ and artisans’ market, entertainment with Cékankonjou, the folk group from Pertuis, herding dog demonstration… The prize giving ceremony for the farm cheese competition is scheduled for 12 p.m., in the presence of the Confrérie de the craftsman.
