The question of water occupies a lot of MP David Taupiac. The latter is at the origin of a report on the adaptation of water policy to the climate challenge.

On the occasion of the day organized by the geographical commission of Sage Gimone Arrats (water management development plan) organized yesterday in Saint-Clar, the deputy for the 2nd constituency of Gers David Taupiac came to talk about water to those present . He thus presented to professionals and citizens the conclusions of the report of the fact-finding mission on the adaptation of water policy to the climate challenge, of which he is co-president at the Assembly.

“This report made it possible to hear more than 80 people and structures, in all sectors, whether on drinking water, industry, leisure, agriculture, etc.,” explains the MP. These long-term hearings carried out by the deputies have, David Taupiac warns, brought to light “an alarming situation”. In this same report, the deputies make 80 proposals to rectify the situation. “What we are saying today is that we will first have to preserve the resource. We will have to consume less water, as we do today with energy. Secondly, we will have to adapt water policy to the effects of climate change, and finally strengthen the governance and financing of water policy,” insists the Gers MP.

You will have to pay more

The report provided a snapshot of the situation. Now, the latter should be translated into a transpartisan bill in a few months.

But, the MP warns now, it will eventually be necessary to increase the price of water. “We have to be clear-headed, we will have to pay more for water to continue to finance the water unions, otherwise, they will go straight into the wall.”
