Over the next four years, four exhibitions will take place in Montpellier museums, each time with a country in the spotlight. Thus, China, Japan, the Himalayan World and India will be offered to visitors.

“Since the Middle Ages, Montpellier has always been a cosmopolitan city open to the world, recalls Michaël Delafosse. It is fundamental to always maintain this desire for openness and understanding of the world. It’s Montpellier. We come to reinforce this and cultivate our curiosity.”

“I wanted to bring these Asian cultures as close as possible to people because we are a national museum and we must get as close as possible to people, everywhere on the territory, continues Yannick Lintz, director of the Guimet museum. Asia is important for everyone today, young people are fascinated by Asia, as the success of Japanese manga or Korean K-Pop and Asian cuisine testify.”

Montpellier will not be the only city to benefit from the exhibitions since the cities of Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme), Digne-les-Bains (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) also signed an agreement with the museum.
