“Since 2019 and the success of Théâtre au feminine, each year, I have wanted to do more. From now on, at least three theatrical events per season are planned,” says Samuel Denis, director of the CAC, as he unveils the theater program. Having participated for several years in the Chainon Manquant festival which brings together presenters from all over France, Samuel Denis has already programmed shows which have succeeded in retaining his audience. “There is strong demand, both from schools and the general public,” explains Alain Échivard, culture assistant.
“Theatre, a live performance par excellence, often addresses emotionally deep themes,” adds Samuel Denis. And this will be the case on January 24 and 26 with two “punching” plays presented under the title: “Sometimes, theater stings a little”.
Friday January 24, at 9 p.m., 114 Cie, from Rennes, will present its latest creation, “Parpaing”. The actor Nicolas Petisoff signs here his first gesture as an author, and questions the theme of origins in the light of his own journey. Born under X, it relates in the style of a thriller the discovery of his homosexuality and the quest for his biological family. Accompanied on stage by the musician Denis Malard, his story, by its force, cannot leave one indifferent.
-Sunday January 26, at 5:30 p.m., the Norman company Frenhofer will offer its show “Poil de carotte, poil de carotte”, featuring the two actors Flavien Bellec and Solal Forte. They explain: “In contrast to the literal adaptation of Jules Renard’s novel, the show enjoys thwarting representation to offer the viewer an uncomfortable experience of humiliation, between performative gesture and institutional training.”
