A new association, Le Donjon de Crussif, has been hosting gaming tournaments for over a year, combining competitions and friendly meetings. Before Christmas, the association’s volunteers organized an afternoon of discovery which was very successful. Children and adults could learn about “Wargames” board games which are reconstructions of battles in fantastic universes where knights, elves, magicians and orcs face each other.
Fans could also meet the young departmental chess champions from Ariège. Their parents, Sophie and Crussif, passionate about games, are at the origin of the association: “This event, organized on Sunday at the village hall of La Bastide-de-Lordat, was a free activity to introduce young people and less young people playing. However, this is not the main activity of the association. We did this event out of sympathy for our village. The afternoon was very popular and attracted many participants. The association plans to renew this initiative to bring together young and old around the games.
“Our sons, recently named departmental champions in their U12 and U14 chess categories, offered to play a few games with those who wished.”
On February 22 and 23, the association will organize a National League 2 Wargames AOS (Age of Sigmar) tournament in Occitanie, in La Bastide-de-Lordat.

“This team tournament, refereed and federated, is reserved for confirmed players registered in advance and will not be open to the public.”
-On the other hand, in March, a friendly meeting open to all will take place in the same village. It will offer solo and team tournaments.
Crussif, the president of the association, himself writes battle stories and scenarios, truly epic tales in the spirit of Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings”.
