Saint-Orens is hosting the Occitanie Youth Book Festival for the 23rd year, from Friday January 25 to Sunday January 27 at the Pierre Paul Riquet high school.
This highly anticipated event in the region is a great success every year, especially among families. Friday, the day will be reserved for professionals. Then the two days for the general public are the highlight of the festival, which takes place throughout the city the previous week, since January 18. Exhibitions, workshops, readings, shows, meetings with authors and illustrators in Toulouse and in many communities in media libraries, schools, bookstores, etc.
This edition, entitled “Who are these heroes?”, attempts to understand the fascination exerted by this figure. From mythological heroes to modern heroes, they populate children’s literature. For what ? How do these models help us understand the world? What are their developments?
Around thirty authors and illustrators gathered to meet their readers and sign their albums. The large central bookstore offers a very wide choice of books. Stands offer continuous activities: media library, philately, associations encouraging young people to read, Institute for young blind people and discovery of Braille, Quai des savoirs, Toulouse Natural History Museum, etc.
-Many activities for young people are planned at fixed times and by reservation. Workshops: illustrations, comics, cut-outs, various creations. Readings and shows.
For adults, meetings and debates. For everyone, the Teen Prize and Children’s Book Prize awards, carefully prepared in advance and moments full of emotion. Saturday morning, special programming at the Childhood Center.
