a physiotherapist in the running for the festival with his feature film shot in Biganos

Mathieu Pichoff, physiotherapist in Cazaux, has been passionate about writing and cinema for years. It all started at a very young age, where with his father’s old camera he created fake advertisements. During his studies and his various professional activities, he did not lose this passion. It was in 2015 that he became known thanks to a web series, “Templar’s Creed”, based on the video game “Assassin’s Creed”.

Then everything came together. Director and producer, his short film “Peur sans fin”, screened at the Clermont-Ferrand festival in 2017, was spotted by an American director. He was selected and awarded at the Los Angeles Neo Noire Film Fest (LANNEFF) in 2018. A year later, his nano-film “Until Death Do Us Part”, on the story of a battered woman, was released. classified at the Contis festival. The same year, he created a documentary “Need for person” for Arte. Then, in 2022, he finally made his first feature film: “Let me go. »

If initially there were only four or five in the team, today there are around forty who collaborate voluntarily on his films, some of them professionals. “That’s what’s magical,” he said.

Trapped in his bathtub

Filmed in Biganos, his latest feature film “Un siphon phon phon” was previewed in Biscarrosse on January 5 in front of 200 people and received an enthusiastic reception. He would also like to produce a screening at La Teste-de-Buch. “The majority of the team lives in the Basin,” he explains.

The idea for this comedy came from a patient who arrived late for an appointment. “She was pregnant and had lost her mobility. She got stuck in her bathtub. » He adapted this story with Aldo, a drug boss who, by accident, finds himself trapped in his bathtub.

The film has been pre-selected for 2025 and is awaiting the decision of the Independent Cinema Association for its distribution, which should take place in March.
