As part of the “Volte face” exhibition, organized by My Gallery, in the Concorde district of Toulouse, a meeting between one of the exhibiting artists and students took place.
Students from a CM2 class at the primary school on rue Saint Hilaire, in the Concorde district, were able to meet one of the artists exhibiting as part of the “Volte face” exhibition, organized by My Gallery, from Toulouse
The students brought by their teacher Malika Senouci were able to discuss with this painter who, firstly, tried to explain to them his personal artistic journey, the meaning of the different paintings exhibited and the pictorial techniques used. Very attentive, the students listened to the artist then asked him many questions. And, information taken from their mistress, these questions had been anticipated in a preparation session for this meeting. Because this is not the first time that this class has come to discover exhibitions of paintings and sculptures.
-And, each time, these visits and exchanges with an artist are followed by a return to class where everyone’s feelings are presented and analyzed. And this awakening to artistic culture is found in the questions asked and the knowledge of these students… on the Mona Lisa, Soulages, acrylic painting, the relationship between a work and the painter’s experience, and many other points that we may be surprised to find this in ten-year-old children.
And the meeting ended with a painting workshop where each child, accompanied by the artist, drew or wrote on a large canvas a piece of their perception of painting. And the whole thing is very surprising but will decorate the walls of their school and remind them of a very good memory of learning about painting.
