Two monuments of Quebec song were celebrated on Sunday during the first variety of the eighth season of Star Academy.
We took our hat off to the late lyricist Stéphane Venne, who died on Friday, to whom we owe the theme song And it’s not over from the first edition in 2003, in addition to including the most beautiful pieces from the repertoire of the great Richard Desjardins.

For the tribute number that we had reserved for the singer-songwriter and director from Rouyn-Noranda, we called on the talent of Isabelle Boulay, the finalist of the 2012 edition of Star Academy Mélissa Bédard, to Sara Dufour, to the big winner of Star Academy in 2005 Marc-André Fortin as well as Éric Lapointe. Even Francis Cabrel was part of the party from France.

The Academicians, with Émily Bégin, Wilfred LeBouthillier, Marie-Élaine Thibert, Annie and Suzie Villeneuve also greeted Stéphane Venne, who received medical assistance in dying on Friday, by reprising his play Once upon a time there were happy people. Earlier, during the opening number, Wilfred, Marie-Élaine, Annie and Suzie had also sung And it’s not over.

To everyone’s surprise, four girls and four guys were told live that they were entering the Academy directly, causing strong emotions. They ultimately didn’t have to sing, despite the hours spent rehearsing this week. These candidates were added to the four other Academicians who already knew that a bed was reserved for them at the Academy.
