Wawad and his guests transformed the Théâtre des Mazades into a nightclub for the Spirale festival in

Saturday evening, the beatbox champion and member of the group Berywam, Wawad, offered a unique musical experience. As part of the Spirale festival, he invited several artists to the Théâtre des Mazades,

The lights in the room have just gone out. It’s 8:20 p.m. The excitement in the room is palpable. The first bass sounds. Boom. Boom. Boom. Wawad appears on stage, microphone in his mouth, to applause. The beatbox champion (the art of reproducing noises, sounds and music with the mouth) launches the hostilities. In the room, bodies rise, voices are raised. The show can begin.

On the stage, the artists parade. The styles too. The Kowler Rangers, four people from Toulouse who became world beatbox champions last November, do not need any instrument to transport the audience. Only from their mouths. They transform into a trumpet, a cymbal and the next moment, become a mixing desk. In the room, some dance shyly in their seats. A shyness that evaporates under the title “Dors petit, dors”, by the singer Lombre, which oscillates between rap and slam. Standing, the spectators accompany him on the chorus.

MB 14 surprise guest

But the energy goes up a notch with the unprecedented arrival of MB 14, ex-member of the Berywam group of which Wawad is a part, also a beatboxer. The audience goes wild with the cover of the song “Gangsta’s Paradise”. Even the little ones start dancing. The artist will return to the stage a second time with the other members of the group at the end of the show. A surprise that won Marie over, “I didn’t expect it!” I was really happy to see them together,” smiles the forty-year-old who knew Berywam on YouTube.

Damien, for his part, still hasn’t recovered from the performance of Jack Mallet, DJ and producer, accompanied on stage by cellist Simon Bonnemort. A fusion between electro and cello which pushed the audience to join the front of the stage to dance. “He can go very far,” says the father.
