Former teacher et passionate verbicrucistLaurence Tournay presents his eighth detective novel. This resident of (Seine-et-Marne) since her birth, who made herself known in 1978 thanks to a game showcontinues its detective series with Commissioner Delorme, his favorite character based at the Melun police station.

An intriguing book

Laurence Tournay knows well The Republic of Seine-et-Marne who had met him in a context other than his writing talents. “I made the front page of The Rep in 1978 winning 12 times on the show Numbers and Letters. It was the maximum at the time, I was 19! “, she says.

In this new thriller, the author weaves a complex plot around two characters, an 18-year-old young woman and a five-year-old girl mistreated by her mother.

“Seeing the cover with a little girl who is a little miserable, readers leave with an idea of ​​incest which is not the right one, but I cannot say too much,” she warns.

Commissioner Delorme and his team, recurring figures in his novels, will have to unravel this enigma which promises to surprise readers.

Having moved from teaching to writing a year before her retirement in 2013, Laurence Tournay has always kept a close link with words. Since 1998, she has created crosswords and arrows for the magazine Les Veillées des Chaumières.

The desire to write has tickled me since I was a teenager.

After 33 years spent in the same school in Pontault-Combault, she was finally able to give free rein to her passion.

“I waited until I retired. Between my job, my three daughters and everything else, I didn’t have time to write, but I gave in a year before my retirement in 2013,” she smiles.

His favorite book is The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, and although she has a very pronounced taste for historical novels, it is nevertheless thrillers that she writes. “The police style is what comes most easily to me,” she explains.

She confided in The Rep‘ a few years ago, when she published her second novel: “I like to mix fiction and reality. By setting the plot in Melun, local readers can better visualize the places and identify with them. My goal is to make novels that are easy to read and difficult for readers to put down. »

Readers will be able to meet the author and discover her new novel during the Salon du Livre et des Vieux Papiers, on January 18 and 19 at l’Escale (see above).
