An unmissable event for fans of animated cinema, the 16th edition of the Neubourg Animation Film Festival (Eure) returns, from Saturday January 25 to Sunday February 23, 2025.
For almost a month, the municipality will be in total immersion in the fascinating world of animation.
On the program: new animated films to discover at the cinema The Viking, original exhibitions and animations or fun workshops for all ages.
Screenings will begin on Wednesday February 5. If the selection of animated films has not yet been revealed, the animations are already known. Here is the program.
The exhibitions
The birth of a cartoon
The Neubourg media library presents a exhibition on the birth of a cartoonfollowing step by step the making of Don Bluth’s film, Brisby and the secret of Nimh, whose fortieth anniversary was recently celebrated. More than a hundred reproductions of original documents, filming photos, sketches, character models, animation drawings, celluloid and sets illustrate the different steps necessary to create a cartoon.

The four seasons of the cartoon
Exhibition at anatomy museum : the four seasons of the cartoon. Since the creation in 1932 of Flowers and treesWalt Disney’s first color short film, spring, summer, autumn and winter were often represented in the cartoon world.
The four seasons are an integral part of the narration of animated films like those of Walt Disney: Bambi, Fantasia, Lady and the Trampor those of Frédéric Back. Each season has its own color harmonies that help bring poetry to cartoons. Of the four seasons, winter is undoubtedly the most represented with masterpieces like The Little Soldier by Paul Grimault or The Snowman by Diane Jackson. Winter also serves as the backdrop for many cartoons from the golden age of cartoons. This exhibition brings together numerous reproductions of original documents illustrating the four seasons in the world of cartoons.

Anime Making Conference
The Neubourg media library is carrying out a conference on making a cartoon the afternoon of Saturday January 25 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by Mr. Pierre Lambert.
Drawing competition
On the occasion of the release of the brand new film The Smurfsthe town of Neubourg, in partnership with the Le Viking cinema, is organizing a drawing competition to celebrate the famous little blue characters created by Peyo. Whether you’re a long-time Smurfs fan or simply curious to see how these adorable creatures come to life on the big screen, this competition is the perfect opportunity to unleash your creativity and share your vision of this fantastical universe.
Participants will compete in five categories: 3/5 years, 6/9 years, 10/13 years, 14/17 years and adults (i.e. 18 years and over). One drawing per person, in A4 format, free technique. The drawings must be submitted in an envelope, with the identification form and parental authorization completed, either at the Le Viking cinema or at the reception of the media library.
A festival pass can be won for the ten lucky winners! The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday February 5, 2025 at 1:30 p.m., at the Le Viking cinema, during the launch of the screenings. So, grab your pencils!

Riddle game
Still as part of the film release The Smurfsembark with the tourist office of the community of communes of Pays du Neubourg for the operation Escape Smurfsan “indoor treasure hunt”. This fun activity, ideal for the whole family, is made up of fun games and puzzles. Can you solve them to open the chest?
Conditions: from 6 years old accompanied, from 13 years old alone / duration 20 minutes / possibility of using the telephone / from January 25 to February 23 Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. / free.
The Viking cinema also offers cinema sessions reserved for toddlers and distribution of coloring pages at the end of each screening… Other activities related to the films on display will also be put in place.
