Meet Mit Com Con: for a month, the metropolis of Orléans welcomes Switzerland on stage

There is no fire at the lake, but you have to be prepared for it. From February 27 to April 3, the Meet Mit Com Con festival invites, under the leadership of the Scène nationale d’Orléans, Swiss artists to perform in the metropolis “for encounters as invigorating as the famous plant candy”. Around it, eleven supporting structures come together to host a multidisciplinary festival: circus, performance, music, theater, visual arts…

From L’Astrolabe to the National Drama Center and the National Choreographic Center of Orléans, from L’Alliage (Olivet) to the Théâtre de la Tête noire (Saran), from the Théâtre Gérard-Philipe to Bouillon (La Source) and, finally, from Orléans conservatory at the Regional Contemporary Fund (Frac), makes way for “an avalanche of artists and creativity. You thought you knew Switzerland,” asks Scène nationale. Get ready to discover it in a new light.

A Swiss festival like a Russian doll

After Belgium in December 2023, it is, in fact, a Swiss focus to which spectators are invited with proposals that should appeal to as many people as possible. “And even if it’s a Swiss festival, it functions like a Russian doll,” smiles Christophe Galent, the director of the National Stage. “Because in the middle of this second edition, from March 11 to 15, there will be a highlight with a maximum of proposals. »

The programming was established with the structures concerned and the Swiss Cultural Center, the French branch of Pro Helvetia, the Swiss foundation for culture, which, during the work of its Parisian premises, has been touring throughout since September 2022 .

“Lakiko” by cellist Lana Kostic, between electro jazz and pop, a captivating musical experience.

The breath of fresh air will therefore begin, on February 27, at Le Bouillon with Niagara 3000by and with Pamina de Coulon, “the fastest-speaking person in the world, on the subject of the climate crisis, but with a torrent of anecdotes rather than a documentary speech”.

The last appointments are given at the Théâtre de la Tête noire (TTN), in Saran, with two shows by Joël Maillard, whose titles alone are worth the detour: Our Farewells (remake) et Resilience my ass. “Unrecountable shows but in an offbeat universe that reminds me of that of the clown Buffo, played by Howard Buten, who has just left us,” underlines Patrice Douchet, director of TTN.

Ready for a face to face with a bear?

In between, there’s time for dancing with the Geneva Junior Ballet, which will perform three pieces by different choreographers. An introduction before four other choreographic pieces presented during the festival. There will also be a mini-focus on the Swiss performing arts collective Old Masters, which presents two pieces, between living puppets and theater, The House of My Mind and Original Soundtrack.
